About this Photo:
If you know anything about me, you know that I like to go out and explore, I like to find different things to shoot. I had planned to go out and shoot the Pleasure Pier at night with the lights and reflections. While we were waiting for the sun to go down, I wanted to see if I could catch the pier with the sun behind it.
I was almost a half mile away when I took this shot, and I was set up on the jetty out in the gulf. I used my telephoto zoom lens and I captured this amazing shot as the sun was just cresting the horizon. I couldn’t have asked for a better shot, and you can even see the people on the roller coaster and the sea gulls on the end of the pier.
About this Award:
Many of the exhibitions, awards, and challenges I enter are through a website called GuruShots. They are the biggest photo competition site available. As challenges are created, you have the Top Photo Winner, Top Photographer (if available), and Top Guru Pick. The Guru is the award-winning photographer who created the challenge.
I was lucky enough to be chosen as the Top Guru Pick Winner by the Guru who was running the challenge I entered, Piers. This makes my 3rd Award I’ve won for entering my photos at different contests, and I extremely happy with the outcome.
